Triple glazing is the latest innovation in window insulation but what makes it different from double glazing and secondary glazing, and is it worth the investment? Here we answer everything you wanted to know about triple glazing and more!
Triple glazing is a window that has three panes of glass separated by argon gas, which means it has an extra layer of glass to insulate your home over double glazing. This extra layer makes it more difficult for heat to escape, allowing you to effortlessly maintain the temperature in your home.
The air gaps in triple glazing are too small to allow the air to circulate and therefore prevent heat transfer by convection in the window. Because the argon gas is a poor conductor, it reduces the rate of heat loss through the window. In the space between the glass panes, the argon gas is able to improve the thermal performance by stopping heat from escaping, eliminating energy wastage.
Here’s an overview of the advantages of getting triple glazed products installed in your home:
Not at all! All our window frames are available with tremendous triple glazing, so you can enjoy any style and material with added efficiency. With colder winters and rising heating bills, you’ll be more than thankful you made the choice to upgrade.

As well as providing a warmer home in the winter months, triple glazing also reduces energy bills by preventing heat loss. After installing triple glazing you’ll notice a significant difference in your bills as well as the overall comfort of your home – especially throughout the winter months. This means you won’t have to reach for the thermostat. In fact, triple glazing is five times more efficient than single glazing – imagine the difference that could make to your home!
Aiming to cut our greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2050, we are all being encouraged to reduce the U-values (the heat loss) in our homes. Install triple glazing and you won’t feel the need to turn the dial-up on the thermostat in the way you used to, delivering considerable savings in the long run. It is not an exact science but a single-pane window normally has a U-value of around 5 and double glazing used to have a U-value of around 3, although manufacturing advances have slashed that number further. Current Building Regulations state that all new windows installed should have a U-value of no less than 1.6 W/m²K.
As well as lower energy and bills and a warmer home, you’ll also notice a quieter home thanks to the increased barrier to the outside – meaning a more peaceful home. Perfect if you live by a busy road or in a built-up area in the South East and ideal for getting a good night’s sleep. You’ll also benefit from increased security thanks to thick and layered glass which is made from our strengthened safety glass, protecting your home from would-be intruders and giving you extra peace of mind that your home is safe and sound.
Our triple glazing deals make investing in this technology surprisingly affordable, while the savings you make on energy bills will actually pay for the windows in time – making them a worthwhile investment that literally pays for itself. We also provide a variety of home improvement finance plans to work around you, making your investment all the more affordable and allowing you to enjoy a warmer home sooner rather than later.
You can have triple glazing installed in windows, doors, roof lights, and even a gorgeous wall of glass, but bear in mind it will be heavier so your frames are going to have to be strong enough to accommodate it.
