0800 666 444Front doors are the face of your home, setting the tone for its aesthetics and security. Ensuring your home’s entrance makes a lasting impression, while performing as it should, can often mean having to replace or upgrade your front door.
That was the case for the owner of a townhouse on a busy road in Chelmsford, who needed to upgrade their old front door.
The old door had a warped frame, causing difficulties when in opening and closing the door and resulted in visible gaps between the frame and the door which allowed draughts to enter the property. This resulted in reduced energy efficiency, with cold air coming into the property and warm air being let out and led to higher heating bills. The warped frame had also placed undue stress on the door hinges, making them worn, and damaged the lock, leaving the property vulnerable and compromising the door’s security. Alongside the frame and gaps detracting from the overall appearance of the home’s entrance, the wear and tear on the door made it look weathered.
A striking new red composite door was installed, providing the owner with a front door that combines a timber-look with the modern performance of uPVC. The doors GRP skin resembles timber while being impact resistant. The owner doesn’t have to worry about upkeep with the door, as it is virtually maintenance-free, with no repainting required to keep them looking as good as new, just an occasional wipe with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. And with a lifespan on average of 30 years, the new door will stand the test of time.
The new door sill and frame will eliminate draughts and stop warmth being lost, while the door’s densely designed composite panels are tightly installed to stop cold air from entering the home, while the solid core stops the warmth being lost through the numerous layers. It makes the door highly energy efficient and will help save the owner some money on their energy bills. Alongside the solid structure and robust core, the door is fitted with a new multi-point lock and has thoroughly been tested to meet strict industry standards, keeping the home protected from forced entry and providing the owner with peace of mind.
The door features some eye-catching chrome hardware including a ring door knocker, Alpha lever/pad handle and letterplate to provide the bespoke look the owner was looking for. And the door is dual colour, with red on the exterior to provide some real kerb appeal, and white on the interior to match the inside of the home.
Steve Rawding, SEH BAC’s Sales and Marketing Director, said: “The customer’s old front door was in desperate need of replacing and being on a busy road, it was important that it ticked all the boxes. The new composite door is more secure, more energy efficient, meaning the house will be at a comfortable temperature all year round, and it really stands out and gives the property a new lease of life. It is the perfect addition to the property.”
