A Glass Conservatory Roof in Ipswich, Essex and Surrey

The roof is the most important structural element of any conservatory or extension as it provides the strength and stability to protects the frame and glazing panels. Glass conservatory roofs have been the focus of much innovation in recent years and now combine strength with excellent thermal performance. Our high-quality glass deflects heat in hotter months, and working in the opposite way, will trap heat during the winter.

What is a glass conservatory roof?

Combining large panels of thick glazing, glass conservatory roofs may appear to look lightweight, but they are much more rigid than a greenhouse. Panel and roofing designs have been thoroughly tested to ensure strength and durability and are able to withstand winds of up to 130mph as well as heavy rain.

A thermally efficient glass conservatory roof

Our glass achieves extremely low U values that surpass building regulations for greater thermal performance. It is also able to deflect the heat of the sun when it reaches a comfortable temperature, so it won’t turn into a greenhouse during the summer. We also use self-cleaning glass that uses the sun’s energy to burn off any dirt and an invisible coating aids water in removing any debris that has built up.

Our glass roofs guarantee no leaks or draughts will enter your conservatory as they include innovative spacer bars, insulated perimeters and chambered top caps. Trickle vents force a continuous flow of air into the conservatory, preventing moisture appearing and leading to condensation.

Choose from a range of advanced glass options

We offer four different glass types for our conservatory roofs. Visit our Colchester or Chelmsford showrooms to see the thermal performance of our glazing options:

    • Standard glass – With a U-value of 2.7W/(m²K), a G-value of 78% and light transmission of 82%, this provides excellent energy efficiency abilities to keep your conservatory an optimal temperature all year round.
    • Smartglass - With a U-value of 1.2W/(m²K), a G-value of 40% and light transmission of 52%, this option also includes a ‘self-clean’ coating, eliminating maintenance; it also uses warm edge technology to enhance its thermal capabilities.
    • Smartglass Ultimate - With a U-value of 1.0W/(m²K), a G-value of 20% and light transmission of 27%, improved energy efficiency performance and available in the popular cool blue tint.
    • Smartglass Ultra 86 - With a U-value of 1.0W/(m²K), a G-value of 14% and light transmission of 15%, this is currently the best performing glass available on the market.
