Stunning Colchester single-storey extension leaves lasting impression

When a Colchester resident wanted to extend their living space and add a room onto their lounge, they decided the original conservatory on the property was too small. A bigger conservatory could be added onto the lounge for a much bigger space.

When the client was out shopping they came across SEH BAC’s state-of-the-art Colchester showroom, decided to go in and have a look around, and they were impressed. Explaining what they wanted, the SEH BAC team of experts advised an Edwardian conservatory with a glass roof and bi-fold doors as the best choice.

An impressive Edwardian conservatory

The Edwardian design, which combines modern and traditional ideas, was perfect for adding the extra space the customer wanted. The ridged roof and rectangular floor maximises the space, while the flat front makes it a bright and inviting room. The sloping roof gives the illusion of more space while its structure is perfect against the elements.

Glass conservatory roof

To flood the space with even more natural light, the single-storey extension features a glass roof. Our high performing glass can achieve U values as low as 1.0W/(m²K) for greater thermal performance which will help save money on heating bills and is also solar controlled to deflect the heat of the sun when it reaches a comfortable temperature. The glass is also self-cleaning thanks to an advanced process that uses the sun’s energy to burn off any dirt and the invisible coating aids water in removing any debris that has built up. This means there is zero maintenance.

Stunning bi-fold doors

The spectacular conservatory also features a stunning set of bifold doors that provide a seamless transition to the beautiful garden. Their streamlined opening system, slimline frames and ability to open up the whole wall make them an impressive addition and they really modernise the single-storey extensions appearance. The conservatory also features bespoke sliding sash windows which allowed the client to retain the original character of the property. And thanks to a movable panel, the client can easily control the ventilation into the conservatory.
