Modern windows still in keeping with stunning 40-year-old Chelmsford home

For homeowners with an older property, replacing windows is something that needs to be given more than a little thought.
While the windows will not be performing as they should, it’s not quite as simple as choosing the first replacement window you see. Your upgraded windows must be in keeping with the character of the house.
For a Chelmsford resident that was the biggest consideration – and the reason they turned to leading South East home improvement company SEHBAC.
A big renovation on their 40-year-old property, which was once owned by World Cup winner and former Spurs and England striker Jimmy Greaves, also included five sets of doors and 25 plus windows.
The windows featured a chamfered frame and are coloured on the outside with an agate grey grained foil, and on the inside with a white grained foil for the desired dual colour so the windows not only match the outside of the property but also the interior.
“We wanted a classic window, that matched with our other windows and fit with the house, with a modern performance and SEHBAC were able to provide us with exactly what we wanted from their range,” said the customer.
“We looked at three other home improvement companies and SEHBAC ticked all the boxes in terms of quality and price and, unlike others, were able to provide us with a stronger guarantee of when we could expect the products and when the work would be done.
“We wanted windows to match our existing ones and because of that we struggled to visualise what that would look like, but the SEHBAC team were brilliant in the design process and were confident they would be perfect. We are so happy with the choice of the agate grey colour, and the installation team were also impressive and turned up on time and worked hard to get the work done.”
All windows were installed with Comfort Glass, a significant step up from standard double glazing which, thanks to its smart low-e glass coating, stops 56% more internal heat escaping and provides the same level of insulation as more costly and bulky triple glazing.
“The house was very cold,” added the customer. “It’s T-shaped so a lot of the rooms have three external walls and the windows have made a massive difference, especially with the current cost of energy bills.”
Steve Rawding, SEH BAC’s Sales and Marketing Director, commented: “The problem with older houses is that the windows will not be helping to provide a warm home. Single glazing will be inefficient, while even older double glazing will not be performing as it once did in terms of retaining heat. We’re delighted to hear how happy the customer is with his new windows.”
